He completed his studies at the University of Iceland and has worked at prestigious institutions such as the National Cancer Institute in the USA and Rockefeller University in New York. Dr. Čekan is renowned for his work in breast cancer diagnostics and is the co-founder of the biotech company MultiplexDX, where he developed COVID-19 testing solutions (PCR and LAMP) used globally. Visit of the Research Institute of the University of Iceland
These days I am in Iceland and that is why I also visited the Research Institute of the University of Iceland, where I spent a wonderful 9 years of my scientific life. I also did my PhD with Professor Snorri Sigurdsson. This is where my scientific career began with a strong and beautiful Icelandic handwriting. I am a happy person that my beginnings are connected with this place, with these people and Iceland. Here I sniffed Icelandic patriotism, optimism and the ability not to give up. That is why I am in Slovakia today and I am trying to build a successful Slovak biotechnology company, MultiplexDX International, which all Slovaks will be proud of.

Visit to the Ministry of Health of
Iceland
At the invitation of the Minister of Health of Iceland himself, Willum Þór Þórsson, we met with Willum and his colleagues this week. The Minister visited MultiplexDX International in Bratislava 2 years ago during the official visit of the Icelandic President to Slovakia. Since then, Icelanders have been interested in our innovative test for breast cancer patients, Multiplex8+. We discussed the possibilities of cooperation and I firmly believe that soon our diagnosis will reach Icelandic cancer patients in some form. Iceland is very close to my heart, as I spent a beautiful 10 years there and Icelanders have grown close to my heart, so I will be very happy about it
